The 4 Stages of Escapism

These stages hold for consultants, fractionals, freelancers and even contractors. This may help with clarity on your journey

Stage 1: “Can I Do This?" (Getting Started)

  • This stage is all about overcoming initial fears and uncertainties. It's the leap of faith where you question whether you have the skills, resources, and courage to start.
  • It involves dealing with self-doubt and the fear of the unknown. There's a strong focus on assessing abilities and potential for success.

Stage 2: “Can I Make It?" (Evaluating Success):

  • Once you've started, the focus shifts to sustainability and viability. Here, you're constantly evaluating whether your solo venture is working.
  • This stage involves looking at measures of success such as financial, client acquisition, and market feedback. It's a period of constant learning and adjustment.

Stage 3: “Do I Want to Do This?” (Reassessment):

  • After establishing that you can make it work, there's often a deeper questioning about personal fulfillment and long-term goals.
  • This is where you reassess your commitment to your new path, considering not just financial success but also personal satisfaction, work-life balance, and alignment with personal values.

Stage 4: “I Am All In & All Systems Go" (Full Commitment):

  • In this final stage, having navigated the doubts, challenges, and reassessments, there's a full commitment to the chosen path.
  • This stage is characterized by a strong sense of purpose, confidence, and forward momentum. You're fully invested in your venture, both mentally and emotionally.

There is no set time line. It could take weeks, months or even in some cases years.

I would love to hear from others on their journeys.

Does this align with yours?

I hope this helps you on your journey!
